The University of Wisconsin – River Falls Art Department presents: About Space~Contemporary Abstraction.  Minnesota artists Betsy Byers, Karen Gustafson and Zoë Shulman will be exhibiting their contemporary artwork at this event. Curated by University of WI-River Falls Art Department faculty Jeannine Kitzhaber and Lyz Wendland, the three artists were chosen for their work because it expands the contemporary boundaries of space and abstraction.  Ms. Byers is a Professor of Art for Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN where she teaches Printmaking and Painting. With her paintings she is interested in the, “relationships that embody our intimate experience with the environment in an abstract form”. Karen Gustafson is a Professor of Art for Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN, where she teaches Drawing and Painting. Gustafson’s works on paper are intense correlations of science and art that reveals the “underlying structures and patterns to research, reveal, and inform”. Zoë Shulman is a recent graduate of Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Her post-modern work is both two-dimensional and three-dimensional. Shulman is interested in finding truth in how she perceives and reconstructs her world. All three artists are prolific in their fields and utilize contemporary and formal relationships of space in their art.

This event is free and open to the public.
